Village Pub & Development Update 8-12-14

(published by: website administrator)

Royal George
Click the image to enlarge it

Kinsey Hern would like to host three update sessions for people who want to know more about evolving plans for the pub, and about his plans for a housing development on the side of the village. He is keen to take into account our views on what we want, preferably at an early stage before plans are set in stone.

The sessions will take place on Thursday 11th December at The Barns, next to Upperhouse Farm, starting at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm. They should last around 45 mins to an hour, and will give people the opportunity to ask questions of Kinsey directly. Parking is available at the Barns if you don’t want to walk.

It would be helpful for Kinsey to have a rough idea of likely numbers, so please email him if you are planning to attend. If you can’t make it on Thursday, but would like to have done so, please also email him (kjhern@hotmail.com) and it may be possible to find other ways of bringing you up to date and allowing your input.

Please let your friends and neighbours know about these sessions so as many as possible can contribute to the plans.

Christmas is fast approaching, Royal Mail & The Trading Standards Service are advising all to be aware of the following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

Police Warning for County Drink Drivers

(published by: Police)

09/10/2014

Drink Driver’s to Be Targeted in Herefordshire

Police in Herefordshire are targeting drink drivers in rural areas in an attempt to reduce alcohol related collisions on the counties roads.

Using a combination of both education and enforcement, we will be working in partnership with rural landlords to help educate drivers and to reinforce the responsibility landlords have to meet licensing objectives - specifically public safety and the prevention of crime and disorder.

Police will also be using unmarked police vehicles in an attempt to identify those who continue to drink drive in rural areas causing a serious risk to the public and themselves.

Sgt Tim Hargraves of the Operational Patrol Unit at Hereford Police Station said,

“There are still many drivers in rural Herefordshire risk drinking and driving in rural areas without thinking about the potentially fatal consequences of their actions. They seem to mistakenly believe that due to the rural nature of some public houses that they will not get stopped by Police.”

“In the first instance we are trying to encourage landlords to serve their customers responsibly as well as publicising the dangers of drink driving within their premises in an attempt to prevent those tempted from even setting foot in their vehicle whilst under the influence.”

“In addition to this we will be using unmarked police vehicles and intelligence led policing in these areas in an attempt to reinforce the message as well as identifying and prosecuting those who continue to drink and drive.”

Those who are concerned about a possible drink driver in their area however remote are encouraged to contact Police using 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
