A44 Road Closure - Sunday 27/7/14

(published by: Parish Council)

23/07/2014

Road Closure Tree work
Click the image to enlarge it

Please be aware!

The main A44 road will be closed this Sunday between 8.00am and 6.00pm for tree works near the Old Vicarage.

In practice it is likely that the closure will last from about 8.30am through to about 4pm, depending upon the progress of works which are aimed at taking a substantial tree down close to the highway. There will also be no electricity for around 14 local properties in the vicinity, and these power-outages have been separately notified to affected residents.

It is likely that the road closure might cause some inconvenience to the Family Service at St Michael & All Angels on Sunday morning,as well as to routine traffic. Please find alternate routes.

Housing Fayre 1
Click the image to enlarge it

Last week South Shropshire Housing held a housing fayre in the village hall to publicise our new affordable properties at Fishpools, which are due for completion soon. Staff from South Shropshire Housing, Herefordshire Council and Parish Councillors were on hand to help and support potential buyers and tenants.

Many people attended and took time to chat and view the show house which had been made available. All the properties are built to a high standard and offer many features. Overall, there was a positive atmosphere and the event gave members of the public another opportunity to find out more information about the homes, how to make their applications and a chance to ask questions of their own.

There has been a lot of interest in these new properties and Homepoint will be advertising the 4 rental homes next week W/C 21st July, so if you are considering a move into Fishpools, you must place your interest by bidding through the Homepoint website before the closing date.

If you are interested in the shared ownership properties you should initially contact Parish Clerk Kate Lomax on 01544 340092 or Maggie Davies at South Shropshire Housing 0300 303 1190.

In Bloom Competition gets closer

(published by: Lyonshall In Bloom)

11/07/2014

The Close flowers
Click the image to enlarge it

This year’s Lyonshall in Bloom campaign is coming close to a climax, with judging on 24th July.

A huge effort goes into making our village beautiful for this competition, It is obvious you are all enhancing your gardens that little bit extra, thanks and well done. However without the support of Patrick and Veronica and the in Bloom team, sponsorship of local business, especially Lyonshall Nurseries, who have provided many of the plants around the village, I’m sure our chances would be slim.

Let’s keep the momentum going, fill up our watering cans, pull out the weeds, deadhead and mow over the next 3 weeks to ensure we all get the result we deserve. Good Luck everyone!

Village pulls together in grass cut tidy.

(published by: Parish Council)

23/06/2014

As many of our residents will already know, Herefordshire Council will only be cutting our grass around the village three times this year. The Parish Council have stepped in and started to cut the very long grass that has been neglected by the Council. Unfortunately, it will take some time for the grass to look tidy again and may take several cuts.

We must thank all our local residents around the village for their support, those who have cut, raked and piled the long grass into hay heaps and helped clear away, also to our residents who tend and care for their lawns on a regular basis, well done everyone the village looks so much better.
