.....And we need your help!!
It's only 6,000,000 steps!
We are inviting everyone in Lyonshall parish to take part in this virtual walk through December. The amount of steps you walk each week should be recorded and sent to Jane Burgoyne at jeb@nashsoak.plus.com or phone: 340272 or sent to the WhatsApp group 'Lyonshall 6,000,000 Steps'. We are hoping that you will join this group and tell us where you have walked and send photos. You can register with Marie Hussey on 07757 813891. Jane will keep a regular update in the Church porch which will be a focal point for the end of the walk and where there will also be a map showing where in the world we are!
Please join in and make it a real community effort. If you walk as a family, everyone's steps can be counted and thus the distance will really mount up! We can't do much together at the present time and we hope that this will get us all talking together and create some Lyonshall 'camaraderie' even if we can't walk together as a group.
If restrictions allow, we are hoping to have a Christmas Eve walk to the church to announce how far we've got!
We hope to raise some funds for the church at the same time so if you would like to make a donation for taking part or find some sponsors to pay you for your steps that would be great. Sponsorship forms are available from Malcolm Thompson, Marie Hussey, Jane Burgoyne, Mary Williams or can be downloaded by clicking on this link. Forms and any money should be returned to the above by the end of December.
But if you just want to walk with us, that will be equally great.
Look forward to seeing you on the way!
We have walked 2,101,781 steps this week on our way to Bethlehem! We are one third of the way there which is really amazing! Thank you very much to all of our 56 walkers for taking part and doing so well! If anyone has forgotten to send their steps in don't worry. We need them and
will add them on to next week's total.
Please keep walking so that we can get there in time for Christmas Day. Also the map in the porch
will be updated to show which country we're in now!
Yesterday we recorded 2,654,629 steps which means we have walked 4,756,418 altogether - more than two thirds of the way and we are in Turkey near Ankara!!
Thank you all for your wonderful efforts and please keep walking this week so that we get to Bethlehem in plenty of time for Christmas.
Here are some new photos that some of our walkers have taken this week.
A record amount of steps this week - 3,395,589, bringing the total to 8,220,007! This means that we are in Bethlehem and have lots of spare steps to do some sightseeing this week!!
Congratulations to all who have taken part and thank you very much for walking so well and keeping going. We haven’t had the best of weather for it!
Hoping to see you all on Christmas Eve for the walk and Carol Service. Let’s make it a great celebration for our efforts.
Please remember to bring a torch.
Thank you to all who gave so generously to support our church - we have raised £980 so far.
Also the marvellous sum of £309.10 was given to the collection at the Carol Service which will be shared between The Church of England’s Children Society and Save The Children.
Most of all, thank you for joining in and making it a walk to remember - something to smile about in these difficult times.
Thanks very much
